ADOPTION AND REHOMING

I am proud to be working with and supporting Noddfa Bach (The Little Sanctuary).

ABOUT NODDFA BACH

Our Sanctuary

Currently, our Noddfa Bach dogs are in kennels and foster homes across the UK while we raise funds to buy our own sanctuary. This costs a lot, in excess of £500K, but we are working hard to make sure this happens.

We frequently get asked why we don't rent or lease somewhere? A very good question with a simple answer 'security'. We want to be sure that any premises we build and develop belong to the charity. So we don't have issues with the landlord selling or not renewing a contract. Any land we do purchase belongs to Noddfa Bach and is protected within our constitution so that no individual can profit from it and the land will always be an animal sanctuary and conservation area.

We have identified a couple of different premises in North Wales that would be absolutely perfect.

To start, we are proposing to build twenty kennels. Ten of these are already reserved for our own dogs and the other 10 would be used for rescue.  We would be able to have four good sized paddocks and an agility area. Plus, grooming and isolation area.

CONSERVATION

We have all seen the drastic changes in our climate over the last few years, soaring temperatures, wildfires, floods, draughts. Everything is being affected by this. People, our agriculture, our wildlife even our pets. Floods and heat can help spread fleas, ticks, mites and the infections and diseases that they can carry.

In addition to the changes in climate our flora and fauna face a great many other environmental pressures. Over the last 50 years a great many plant and insect species have become extinct and more are threatened with extinction.

'Insects contribute to food production through pollination services, managing crop pests, maintaining soil health and recycling nutrients from waste' UK Government, Insect decline & food security report.

We believe that through positive action we can create change.

A portion of our land will be used for conservation. This means rewilding, introduction of extinct or endangered native plants, encouraging and protecting insects and native wildlife.

By working with our network of ecologists, botanists and other conservation specialists we will help to create more natural habits for local wildlife and insects. We will offer opportunities for students and the local community to get involved with our conservation projects and of course, this will benefit the dogs under our care by giving them beautiful extra outdoor space to just be dogs.

Over time our conservation area will help the sanctuary become self-sufficient help local wildlife, help us engage with the local community, as well as, bringing more visitors to our beautiful part of the world.

We want to create an open sanctuary which will benefit animals, people, community and the environment.
